 The Cave: Part 1

They were gaining on me. My legs would give out any minute and I knew it. “GET BACK HERE YOU RUNT!” They called after me. I jumped over a small stream and turned behind a tree. I stood behind the tree keeping my breathing quiet. I heard feet run past me. Then there was silence. I looked around. The coast was clear. I sighed and sat down. I sat for a few minutes.

Maybe if I stayed here long enough, they would find me, I would be killed for trying to escape. Would that be easier? I would not have to run. I shook my head. No, I need to stop thinking that way. F2 said there would be a cave near here I could hide out in, just have to find it.

I hesitantly got up and looked around. I saw a nearby mountain, there were caves in those, right? I walked to the mountain, at the base was a cave surrounded by crystals, with a broken sign that I could tell used to say BEWARE.

I decided to ignore that very obvious warning and walked into the cave. The inside of the cave was filled with more glowing crystals. I touched one, they felt warm. I was not expecting them to be cold or something. I realized after a while the crystals were the cave’s only light source. I walked deeper into the cave, my footsteps echoing.

I continued to walk when I heard a crack, I looked down, I had stepped on a stick. The floor under me opened up and I fell into darkness......
